How To Get Rid Of A Villager Acnh
While there are nearly 400 villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons , it is only possible for a player to have 10 of them living on their island at any one time. As such, some fans will want to be very selective about their neighbors, bringing in the villagers that they want and getting rid of those that they do not. That said, convincing a villager to leave naturally can be an extremely protracted process in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but there is indeed a way to get it done quickly.
Updated November 11th, 2021 by Russ Boswell: Animal Crossing New Horizons is constantly adding new content, including villagers, for players to add to their island paradise. It can be pretty taxing to keep up with all of the friendly faces and some players find themselves growing weary of the same villagers crowding their island home. To give players a better idea of how to get rid of villagers in ACNH the following list has been updated and now includes information on why players may want to get rid of a villager, as well as possibilities in trading villagers for goods or other inhabitants.
A Note About this Method
To note, this method for getting rid of a villager fast does require players to time travel in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is not something that every fan will be comfortable doing. However, those that are willing to time travel should be able to use this approach to kick out any villager that they want without much delay.
The Fastest Way to Get Rid of a New Horizon's Villager
The first step in this process of getting rid of a villager in ACNH is identifying a time when the targeted villager is typically outside. This can be done through standard gameplay, and it is critical that players are using that time when they are time traveling, as they will not be able to kick out a villager if they are not outside. When that time is identified, the following steps should be taken:
- Step 1: Time travel forward by one day and check every villager that is outside to see if any of them have a thought bubble over their head. If no villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 2. If a villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 5.
- Step 2: Time travel forward by one day and check outside villagers for thought bubbles. If no villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 3. If a villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 5.
- Step 3: Time travel 15 days forward from the first day and check outside villagers for thought bubbles. If no villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 4. If a villager has a thought bubble proceed to Step 5.
- Step 4: Time travel forward by one day and check for thought bubbles. Repeat this step until a villager with a thought bubble is located and proceed to Step 5.
- Step 5: If the thought bubble is with the villager that the New Horizons player wants to get rid of they can speak with them and kick them out. If the thought bubble is with a villager that they do not want to get rid of they should not speak with them, note the date, and proceed to Step 6.
- Step 6: Time travel back to the date that it was prior to any time traveling, then time travel forward to the date noted in Step 5, then proceed to Step 7.
- Step 7: Find the villager with the thought bubble. If it is with the villager that a player wants to get rid of they should speak with them and have them move. If it is with an ACNH villager that the player wants to keep or there is no thought bubble at all they should return to Step 6.
One final thing to mention about this method for getting rid of villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is that players can use the date that they identify in Step 5 as many times as they want in order to kick out multiple villagers. This will not only be useful for players that want to get rid of a number of villagers, but also for those that are looking to trade villagers in ACNH, and indeed fans should make sure to keep a record of that date.
Why Should Animal Crossing New Horizons Players Get Rid Of Villagers?
There are tons of villagers present in ACHN and it can be overwhelming for most players to attempt to travel back and forth to new islands in an attempt to find a particular villager. This has led to many players taking whatever they can find to increase the size of their village, only to find out there is a "cap" for how many villagers a player can have on their island at one time. After some time, island designers will find themselves inundated with an array of villagers they don't necessarily like.
In Order to swap out these villagers, players will need to use methods to ensure they wish to leave the island. That way, players can use the "open space" to begin a search for other villagers they may wish to invite to their paradise. Thankfully, there is no penalty for doing so, meaning players are free to switch villagers as much as they want.
Other Ways to Get Rid of ACNH Villagers
Other ways players can try to get rid of their unwanted villagers is to:
- Stop talking and interacting with them, even when they call the player by name.
- Tell Isabelle that they are no longer wanted around.
- Ignore mail from that villager.
- Use an amiibo to bring in a new villager and use that one to replace the unwanted villager.
- When the unwanted villager is nearby, annoy them by swatting them with a net.
Trading Villagers
One interesting practice in ACNH is "Trading Villagers." Just because a player may not like the villager they currently have access to doesn't mean they're not a favorite for someone else. To get the best bang for their buck, players can look at online forums and dedicated marketplaces to engage with other players to trade villagers with them. This is a preferred method for those that are looking for a particular inhabitant.
Some villagers are so sought-after that players can even trade them for currency, items, or blueprints. It's in a gamer's best interest to take a peek online and see if the villager they wish to get rid of has value to someone else before going through the process of making them "want to leave."
